| Helen MacLeod II, the last commercial sailing
vessel on the Great Lakes, is now being restored by the Bayfield Historical
Society. She was crafted in Bayfield, Ontario, Canada on the shores
of Lake Huron between 1923
& 1926 following the lines of the Great Lakes Schooners, she's the
only example in existence. We welcome donations of time, labour, materials
information and of course money. This project began in April of 1996 and was scheduled for completion in 2000. It's no surprise that it is taking longer! The restoration will remain as a memorial to the days of the Great Lakes fishing schooner, a tribute to her late builder, and a celebration of the generations of Great Lakes Fishermen. |
