Bayfield Schools

In 1836 Baron de Tuyll donated two lots to the village for the construction of a school. The first school was built of cedar logs and was located on lots 12 and 13 on Bayfield Terrace. A second school made of brick was built around 1862. A second storey was added in 1892. In 1956 a new public school was opened and the brick school house was torn down. Eleven years later in 1967 a central school, the Huron Centennial Public School, was built in Bayfield. The school records for Bayfield cover the early 1880s to 1967.
