The Bayfield Historical Society in the Village of Bayfield, Ontario, is dedicated to recording and preserving our rich historical legacy for future generations. We are a registered non-profit organization affiliated with the Ontario Historical Society and incorporated in December 11, 1976. The Historical Society discovers, collects, classifies, publishes and presents materials concerning the history of Bayfield, and its people. 

Society Objectives

In order to promote the education of Bayfield area residents of all ages, the Society will discover, collect, classify and preserve any material concerning the history of the area and its people. To hold open meetings for the presentation of papers and discussions. To publish local historical material.

Archival & Museum Collection

The Bayfield Archives preserves and stores several different types of archival material and resources. These are available for viewing to researchers with the help of a volunteer or archivist. Our collections include: newspapers, directories, diaries, artifacts, photographs, postcards, cemetery records, censuses, voter registration lists, newspaper clippings of obituaries and important events in Bayfield and area, assessment rolls, and much more!

Fees for Service

Fees for services (items for personal use only): $20/hr for a staff researcher (no unaccompanied research); 50 cents/side for photocopies; $10 per page in advance for scanning 72dpi quality to be emailed. Requests for reproduction or for commercial purposes are to be negotiated.

Photos or documents that have been donated to the archives cannot be used without prior written consent. Reproduction of printed material published by the archives is not permitted without written consent.
